Dr Aleida Guevara, William Soler Children's Hospital, Havana, Cuba, Aleida Guevara, Cuban doctor, and daughter of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. Dr Guevara has participated in international missions in Angola, Ecuador and Nicaragua.
Aleida Guevara, Cuban doctor, and daughter of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara - Cuba sends medical brigades in response to disasters, has established health centres in low-income and remote areas and trains medical practitioners from across the developing world. Dr Guevara, who has participated in international missions in Angola, Ecuador and Nicaragua, will explain the internationalist philosophy that underlies this work, as well as its challenges and achievements.
This event is chaired by Professor Jonathan Bell, Director of UCL Institute of the Americas, and was organised by Dr. Emily Morris, Honorary Research Associate at UCL Institute of the Americas. Dr Guevara’s tour marking 50 years since the death of Che is sponsored by the Cuba Solidarity Campaign.
The presentation will be delivered in Spanish, with consecutive translation in English
