The tangible nature of e-textile technologies provides new expressive potential for interaction.
Working with a range of people with visual impairments allows this expressive potential to be explored. Using the approach of hands-on maker workshops, we can ask how people with a range of visual impairments can use eTextile technologies to give voice to personal experiences and imagine future technologies.
About the speaker: Janet van der Linden is Professor in Interaction Design at the Open University’s School of Computing and Communications. Her work focuses on new forms of interfaces and how to bring together tangible, technological and social aspects of designs.
