In 1886, Francis Galton commissioned Flinders Petrie to take photographs of different “racial type” that were present in or enemies of Ancient Egyptian civilization. This exhibition displays some of those photographs and explores their contentious legacies, examining and inviting comment on Galton and Petrie. Part of the Legacies of Galton: Centenary Programme at UCL. The photographs and information about them will change throughout the duration of the exhibition.
