HE Anthony Cary, Former British High Commissioner to Canada
“Canada has long been a Cinderella: taken for granted in her cold but spacious attic, while her hulking great ugly sister throws her weight about below and patronises her, considering her the epitome of dullness".
Anthony Cary was British High Commissioner in Canada from February 2007 to December 2010 at the end of a long and distinguished career at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that included, amongst other roles, assignments in London, Berlin, Malaysia, Washington and Sweden. The UCL Institute of the Americas is therefore delighted that he has agreed to deliver its Inaugural Lecture in Canadian Studies – which will be followed by a Reception for Canadians, Canadianists, friends of the Institute and all members of the public. Attendance is free of charge but registration is required.
